Clayton Hotel Burlington Road is Dublin City’s largest Conference Hotel located just 30 minutes’ drive from Dublin International Airport and a 15-minute walk to the City so avoiding any of the distractions that comes with a central location. The hotel is positioned as 4-star comprising of a conference centre with facilities for up to 1,200 delegates, 20 supporting meeting rooms and 502 guest bedrooms, 452 in a standard rating.
The Conference centre is flexible as sections can be configured to create multiple breakout rooms or exhibition spaces. The hotel has hosted large scale international and national meetings that include sales conferences for over 600 delegates cabaret style, product launches and medical congresses. Other spaces are suited to smaller scale meetings such as advisory boards, investigator meetings and events focused on internal teams. Dedicated spaces can be created to provide confidentiality.
The Royal College of Surgeons and Trinity College Dublin is a 20-minute walk from the hotel. Nearby hospitals include St Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, just 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel.
SALES AND MARKETING
The hotel is presented in marketing materials as a purpose-built conference hotel, focusing on corporate meetings, for both national and international participants. Website and other marketing material support this positioning with the use of a neutral, business focused design with meetings prominent in the use of imagery and overall content. There is no attempt to position an upscale or leisure proposition.
LOCATION AND SETTING
This 4-star hotel is a venue for business, located in the leafy residential suburb of Dublin, just 15km from Dublin International Airport and a 15-minute walk to St Stephens Green recognised as a centre of the city. Hospitals, Universities, Colleges of medicine, healthcare and life science companies and the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association are also conveniently located to the hotel, some within walking distance. Car-parking is available on site to support meetings such as product training where participants may prefer to drive. Car Parking is on a first come first served basis, charges apply.
The hotel is easily accessible, the Aircoach and Dublin Bus routes 7B, 7D, 11, 46a, 116 and 145 stop directly outside the hotel and the Luas Green Line (tram) stops nearby at Charlemont linking to St Stephens Green, Dundrum, Sandyford and Cherrywood business parks.
FIT FOR PURPOSE
The purpose-built conference hotel is modern by design with neutral colours and soft tones suiting business visitors. The hotel is easily accessible to the city centre and airport with the focus on location being a key benefit for meetings. Multiple meeting spaces mean that all types of large and small meetings can be accommodated.
Public areas support the business positioning of the venue with high top desks in the lounge area with charging points demonstrating the business environment created.
The Sussex Restaurant is available for breakfast only as it is used exclusively by hotel guests to provide catering for conferences. The restaurant can seat up to 300 people and the bar can be used as overflow for larger groups.
The BBAR, as it is named, is open to guests from 12 noon everyday however can be used privately for lunches and semi privately for informal gatherings. The design is modest and it is not considered a local feature or place to meet.
Meetings: All meeting space is located in one building. The conference centre located on the ground floor can provides facilities for up to 1200 delegates theatre style, 672 delegates cabaret style and 600 delegates classroom style. The overall design matches that of the rest of the hotel with a continuation of the business focused style throughout all spaces.
The conference centre has a pre-function area which is ideal for registration, welcome receptions, networking and catering breaks. The room is divisible into 6 sections, allowing organisers to be flexible with the setup of the room in different formats.
To compliment the conference centre, there are 20 other meeting rooms located on the 1st floor and includes a second lobby that can be used for registration, catering breaks and informal breakout space. These rooms can be used in parallel with a main session or used separately for smaller individual meetings. Each meeting room has natural daylight, air conditioning and includes a projector, screen, writing materials, table refreshments, one flip chart and complimentary WI-FI.
Catering can be provided in all meeting rooms to offer privacy and confidentiality where this is required.
Bedrooms: The hotel boasts 502 modern bedrooms that include executive bedrooms which are the same style and size as standard rooms, with the addition of access to the executive lounge. There are 6 suites. The style of the rooms reflects a contemporary light design with features focused on business travellers. The 452 rooms are classified as standard bedrooms that offer 28sqm in space and include facilities for business travellers such as TV, Universal travel adaptor tower, T/C making facilities, Iron/Iron Board, bottled water, laptop safe and a mini fridge (not stocked). For larger meetings the hotel can offer substantial bedroom blocks and offer overflow bedrooms in nearby sister hotels. There is an executive lounge that can only be accessed by guests staying in an executive bedroom or suite, and would be allocated carefully for meetings where HCPs are in attendance. The executive lounge can also be used for private informal meetings perhaps for internal team members.
Leisure: Leisure guests make up a small segment of the hotels business, mostly at weekends. There is a limited gym on 6th floor which is open from 6am – 11pm daily for use by residents only. There is no spa or other treatment facilities at the hotel.
The hotel focuses on service levels and maintains a guest to staff ratio however not this is to service complex business meetings not a luxury positioning.
WI-FI is complimentary throughout the hotel at a speed of 3mbps per device. There is high capacity, dual radio ruckus access points that are distributed throughout the hotel capable if higher speed WI-FI that can be privatised if required.
